How much does a website cost in Cameroon in 2026?

Real price ranges for a showcase website, an editorial platform or an application in Cameroon, what moves the quote, and the hidden costs to check.

“How much does a website cost?” is the first question we receive, and the one many providers refuse to answer before a meeting. Here are the price ranges we work with in Douala, what moves them, and the quote lines to check before you sign, whether you are in Cameroon, elsewhere in Central Africa or in the diaspora.

Website price ranges in Cameroon

A website does not have a price: it has a scope. The table below summarises what we see in 2026 for serious work, meaning a site designed to be found, read and updated, not a theme filled in a hurry.

Type of website Indicative range Usual timeline
Structured showcase website (5 to 8 pages, bilingual possible) from 200,000 FCFA 4 to 6 weeks
Editorial platform (news, resources, content administration) 400,000 to 900,000 FCFA 6 to 8 weeks
Campaign landing page 120,000 to 250,000 FCFA 1 to 2 weeks
Redesign and migration of an existing site 250,000 to 700,000 FCFA 4 to 8 weeks
Web or mobile business application quoted after scoping 8 to 16 weeks

These figures reflect our practice as an independent studio. An agency with account managers and offices will often charge double for the same deliverable; a beginner freelancer will sometimes offer half, with the risk described below.

What moves the quote

Number of pages and languages

Each page needs a structure, copy, images and a title written for search. A French-English bilingual site does not cost twice as much, but adds roughly 30 to 40% of work: translation, doubled metadata, links between both versions. For a company targeting the CEMAC region or the diaspora, that extra cost almost always pays for itself.

Content: who writes it?

This is the most underestimated line. A site without copy cannot be built, and copy delivered “later” is the first cause of delay. We always frame the editorial structure; writing can stay with you, or be done alongside you, which adds between 50,000 and 150,000 FCFA depending on volume.

Content administration

Being able to change a text, a photo or a price without calling someone is a basic requirement. Depending on the solution, the administration interface represents 10 to 25% of the budget. It is an investment, not an option: a site you cannot edit is stale within six months.

Search visibility and AI answer engines

A findable site has unique titles, descriptions, structured data, a sitemap and fast pages. That work is included in our ranges, because an invisible site is useless. Be wary of quotes that list “SEO” as an extra: it is rarely more than what should already be done. We detail this approach on the website development page.

Specific features

Appointment booking, a catalogue, a client portal, Mobile Money payment: each block adds logic and therefore time. From two or three such features, you are no longer looking at a showcase website but at a business application, and the way it is quoted changes.

Hidden costs to check

  • The domain name: 10,000 to 15,000 FCFA a year for a .com, slightly more for a .cm. It must be registered in your name, never the provider’s.
  • Hosting: from free to 60,000 FCFA a year for a showcase site on a modern platform. Offers at 200,000 FCFA a year for a six-page site are rarely justified.
  • Professional e-mail: 0 to 40,000 FCFA a year per mailbox depending on the service. Often missing from the initial quote.
  • Photography: half a day with a photographer costs 75,000 to 150,000 FCFA in Douala and completely changes a site’s credibility.
  • Maintenance: updates, backups, monitoring. Optional for a well-built static site, essential for a site on a classic CMS.

Why 50,000 FCFA websites end up costing more

The very cheap website is almost always a purchased theme, filled with your copy, with no work on structure or search visibility, hosted on an account you do not control. Six months later it ranks for nothing, loads in eight seconds on 3G, and the provider no longer answers. The real cost is the redesign you pay for a second time, plus the clients lost in between.

How payment works

We work in three instalments: at kick-off, at design sign-off, at go-live. No hourly billing, no surprise discovered at the end of the project. The quote fixes the scope; anything outside the scope is quoted separately, before being done.

What you own at delivery

The code repository, the design files, the hosting accounts, the domain name and the administration credentials are transferred to your name. You can continue with us, with someone else, or on your own. This is written into our terms of service and it should be written into any provider’s.

Getting a range for your project

A thirty-minute conversation is enough to place a project on one of the table’s lines and give an honest range. Describe your activity, your pages and your timeline on the contact page: we reply within 48 hours with a written scope, even if you decide not to work with us. The other frequent questions, on timelines or code ownership, are answered in our FAQ.

Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum price for a professional showcase website?

At HuginMboa, a structured showcase website starts around 200,000 FCFA. Below that, you usually get a filled-in theme with no work on structure, content or search visibility.

Are the domain name and hosting included?

They are set up in your name and billed at cost: roughly 10,000 to 15,000 FCFA a year for a .com domain and 0 to 60,000 FCFA a year for hosting depending on traffic.

Do I have to pay every month to keep my website?

No, unless you choose a maintenance contract. The site, the code and the credentials are yours at delivery; only the domain and hosting renew yearly.
